When I stepped outside my comfort zone… and loved it: Microsoft Surface Squad MBFWA 2016
This year was my first for attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, and I was lucky enough to be a guest of Microsoft as part of their Surface Squad, a group of awesome girls that were tasked with getting to know the Surface Pro 4 a little better.
Being my first proper Fashion Week, I was actually really nervous! I barely slept the night before it all started and was a little intimidated (no, like really, really intimidated!) by some of the big names that I knew I’d be bumping into throughout the week. So you could imagine my relief and delight when I learned that ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE who I met was super lovely! Maybe I’ve watched a little too much Devil Wears Prada (if that’s possible), but I was expecting a lot of snobbery and that simply didn’t exist.
This post is part of a sponsored collaboration with Microsoft, but I have genuinely adopted the Surface Pro 4 as my primary device and have given my traditional laptop back to my husband (it’s his after all ; )) – if you blog equally in bed, on planes, on the couch or at a desk, I think you’ll love it. And being such a huge company, I was really happy to see Microsoft supporting Fashion Week in Australia – I do think we have a really unique approach to fashion, some really exciting designers and a culture that is able to provide an original approach to this global event, so I was really thrilled to work with Microsoft as a sponsor.

Day 3 of Mercedes Benz Fashion week: Wearing Cmeo Collective ‘First Light Dress‘ and ‘Break Even Pants’
So this is the Microsoft Surface Squad!!! The two stunners Tash and Elle from They all hate us, beautiful Melbourne-based twins Bec and Marissa from Twiceblessed and super sweet Perth-based Jiawa from Beigerenegade. Was so good hanging out with this gang! I’ve been a big fan of all these girls for a long time and it was an absolute honour to be working side by side with them.
Working on my Surface pro 4 between shows. Wearing Blazer, pants and top from Paduchas.
The pen on the Surface pro is a big plus. I am able to write and make notes with my own hand writing and convert it into a word doc etc., or freeze a web page and just start making notes directly on it and then save it. Pretty cool!
Squadding with my friends Rafael Ruiz from http://travlifestyle.com/ and Jennifer Chong from http://tnightwedream.com/
By the end of of Fashion week, my feet were completely done with heels, so sneakers were a must. Wearing Navy ripped knit and Military skirt from Friend of Audrey
I’ve been such a huge fan of Elle and Tash and it was so lovely to hang out with them. They were just so sweet and both are absolutely stunning!
Wearing Triumph Jacket and Triumph Shorts both from Finders Keepers the Label
With the beautiful Jasmine from friendinfashion. Jazzy is such an amazing babe and so down to earth and gorgeous!
My Monochrome Melbourne gang, Bec and Marissa from Twiceblessed
Shout out to my Perth babes Ashley from ashleighdmello and Natalie from fromluxewithlove. They are just the cutest babes – love hanging out with these two!
Fashion Week for me was an unforgettable experience. I met so many amazing women during the week and it’s all about having fun, seeing amazing and inspiring outfits and a solid hang with your girlfriends.
To sum up, I got two big take-outs from MBFWA 2016: Firstly, I never really expected that I’d get here, but I took enough uncomfortable choices to ensure that I did. To any keen bloggers and fashionistas out there, don’t be intimidated by this industry because it will actually embrace you if you approach it openly and honestly, with your own unique sense of style. Don’t give in or be discouraged by the let-downs, because they happen to everyone no matter what level you’re at.
Secondly, I’d like to say a big thank you to Microsoft for their sponsorship and their interest in this amazing subculture. By identifying that we are all able to blog ONLY because there is a piece of technology that connects us to our audiences, they’ve taken the leap to support Fashion Week and this Surface Pro 4 is beautiful enough to fit snuggly into this wonderful community.
Thank you so much for reading and until next year!! Cant wait for #MBFWA 2017!!!

I can’t believe this was your first Fashion Week, you stylish thing! You looked like a seasoned pro. I have to say though, the best thing about MBFWA (apart from all the new and exciting collections) is catching up with all the lovely people in our industry! I really missed that this year.
