I remember growing up reading Disney story books before bed every single night. Even as a little Thai kid, living in Bangkok, the Disney stories and characters were etched into my memories.
Ever since then, I always wanted to visit Disney World. I managed to visit Tokyo Disney a few years back, and it was super cute, but it’s an all-American brand and I was so excited this year to go and see the real thing on its home turf! Two weeks ago, I got do just that, so here are some of my tips for planning your Disney World Resort Orlando trip!
How To Get There:
I flew direct from London to Orlando with British Airways, which took around 9.5 hours. My girl Tania and I flew on British Airways business class, which made the ride so relaxing and comfortable. I checked into the British Airways lounge at Gatwick airport to have some breakfast and relax before our flight. It was such a lovely way to travel – it put us in the perfect space to anticipate the excitement ahead.
Once you land in Orlando, you either get your hotel to organise a transfer but I think the best way to get around Orlando is to hire a car. It’s so much fun to explore different parts and it’s the best way to get to and from each theme park. We hired a regular sedan and when we arrived to the counter, they upgraded us to a Mustang for the same price! Yesss!!!
Where To Stay:
We stayed at the The Four Seasons Resort Orlando. It is nested in a secluded and beautiful location within the Disney World Resort. We stayed in Lake View Rooms, where you can see the fire works from the Magic Kingdom every night. The Four Seasons Resort Orlando is luxurious and has one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on! It’s a great place to hang out by the pool after you have been exploring Disney World all day.
After several days exploring, I spent an afternoon at The Spa, where I got a massage followed by an afternoon in the jacuzzi and steam rooms. Finishing off with a glass of champagne, relaxing in front of a fire. THE BEST!
What to do:
Magic Kingdom. This was my favourite theme park! It is absolutely magical! It features seven magical lands with attractions, restaurants and shops based on my favourite Disney themes of fantasy. I especially love the Journey of the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. During the day they have several shows and the one not to be missed is the new “Happy Ever After” night time spectacular feature a display of fireworks as well as lasers, lights and projections. Micky and Minnie ears are perfect for this theme park visit! I never felt happier. I felt like such a big kid running around the theme park just having the best time. You can also get a FastPass to skip queues.
Epcot. I absolute love Epcot! I only went to Epcot after sunset and stayed there for the fireworks. Epcot takes guests to 11 different nations at World Showcase and fast-forwards them to tomorrow, in Future World. During the time I went, the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival was on and I spent the night exploring over 40 destinations located throughout the park, each offering unique dishes and beverages. We had dinner at the English pub and watched the most beautiful fire works.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is a theme park with a complete motion picture and television studio. The Twilight Zone, Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Toy story Midway mania are among classic attractions.
Universal Studios Florida. One of my favourite and fun theme parks, built with adults in my mind. It features cutting edge attractions based on pop culture icons, blockbuster films and hit television shows.
Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Features some of the most amazing rides with themed islands. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon lagoon, Jurassic Park.
The Mall of Millenia. If you are a a bit of a shopaholic like me then you can’t miss this place! An amazing spot to shop with so many stores from Chanel, Gucci, Burberry and the like!
ICON Orlando 360. Just like the London Eye, this allows you to see Orlando from above with a glass of champagne!
Madame Tussauds. The world’s most famous celebrity wax attraction!
Sugar Factory Orlando. If you are looking for a seriously big and amazing cocktail after a long day of exploring then this is the place to be! It is an American brasserie that will satisfy the sweet tooth. Just remember the servings are huge and delicious!
I really had an amazing week in Orlando and will definitely be back again! Thank you so much for reading!
