For the second half of my Hawaii trip, I wanted to stay somewhere closer to Waikiki. It had to be more or less walking distance to the shopping strip, because, you know, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.
I absolutely loved my stay at The Modern Honolulu. The hotel is set in the prettier and quieter side of Waikiki, and next to Ala Wai Boat Harbour. The hotel decor is modern, chic and every little corner of the hotel is instragram-able. It’s also just a stroll away from the main shopping strip of Waikiki.
Our room was clean and uncluttered, with a touch of Hamptons style to the interior, which overlooks two of their stunning pools as well as a direct ocean view. I hired a car for the whole time that I stayed here, but you could easily not have a car and still be able to walk to most parts of Waikiki. All the staff members were soooo helpful.
I highly recommend hiring one of the day beds. It’s the perfect spot to just relax, brunch and people watch at the pool on a double size bed! What more could you want on a holiday! The hotel has two pools, one of which is an adults-only pool where you can sip your cocktail while floating on water! Bliss!
I have to say food in Hawaii is amazing! It’s a real fusion of all different cultures – as well as traditional and new-age Polynesian dishes, the Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Filipino food is of a super high standard. We had dinner at Ravish one night, which is one of the signature restaurants at the hotel. The food was amazing, we enjoyed a mix of seafood overlooking the sunset on the harbour – amazing! And their cocktail list is so diverse and so delicious! The hotel is also famous for it’s club, Addiction – perfect for a bit of a dance and a night cap.
I had such a wonderful stay at the hotel and would definitely recommend this place to everyone who is heading to Honolulu!
