Paris is always a good idea, so said Audrey Hepburn. I couldn’t agree more! Paris is only two and a half hours from London via the Eurostar – you can set off, watch the first Sex and The City film and then viola! You’re there!
Last month I started off my trip to Paris with a cocktail at the new Eurostar cocktail bar in the premier lounge, making the trip a little more glitzy, and then I was lucky enough to stay at one of the most prestigious hotels in Paris, the beautiful Le Bristol Paris hotel. It is nestled nicely among all of the luxury fashion brand boutiques in the 8th Arrondissement – so I was able to easily reenact plenty of Carrie Bradshaw moments!
The hotel is located on the elegant Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, and it opened its door in 1925. Most of the rooms are decorated in 18th century French-style, and during my visit it was adorned with Christmas lights decorations.
I checked into one of the Deluxe Junior Suites, which is located on the top floor of the hotel with a dreamy view of the Paris skyline. I lunched at Cafe Antonia, ordered a delicious tuna tartare as well as scallops with chicken stock – up there with the best lunches I’ve had in Paris.
After a beautiful lunch, I got changed into my dressing gown and headed down for a facial their spa and wellness centre, which is located on the ground floor, where all the treatment rooms open up into the beautiful private garden. My therapist was very attentive and lovely and gave me the most beautiful facial using Tata Harper products. So relaxing that I think I may have nodded off a few times during my treatment… not like me… NOT!
I was very excited about our dinner – the Michelin star 114 Faubourg restaurant! But before that we were escorted to a secret wine cellar for wine tasting and some canapés. This room was hidden downstairs and it was quite an intimate experience with the sommelier helping us sample some of the hotel’s wines. Food at 114 Faubourg was exquisite, but not pretentious – it was awesome. We finished at Le Bristol after dark – a super sexy bar that has a completely modern feel to it – a real contrast to the hotel itself. Amazing cocktails and people watching. The place to be after dark.
I woke up with breakfast being delivered to my bed, complete with a latte-art print of my face on my coffee! What a great way to start my morning! I had to set this up on my beautiful Parisian balcony! I can’t come to Paris without spending time on a Parisian balcony. I ended my stay with a chocolate making and bread making class with their chocolatier and pastry chef. I had the most amazing time in the kitchen!
I will definitely be back to stay here again soon! It was one of the best two days I’ve ever spent in Europe!
