I am so grateful that I get travel a lot for work. It’s usually fun and exciting, but spending time in airports is not always a highlight. Fighting crowds, uncomfortable seats, bad airport food and a lack of consistent WiFi are things that can take the edge of a great trip – but today I’m going to give you a tip that can change all of that.
I’ve been a member of Priority Pass for the past five years and it has made my airport visits a lot more pleasurable. I have teamed up with Priority Pass to show you guys what it’s like to have access to over 1,200 lounges in 500 cities and 130 countries all around the world. No business or first class tickets required! Anyone can have access by becoming a member of Priority Pass
I came back from Thailand a few weeks ago, after a week-long holiday. At Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport, I had access to over 11 amazing lounges at the airport with my Priority Pass access. I like visiting different lounges when I travel because they all have their different highlights, and this is made easy due to the sheer number of lounges – over 1,200+ to choose from. I did a bit of research and wanted to give the Air France/KLM lounge a try as I’ve heard about their electric massage chairs and it was positioned right near the gate I was flying from. Checking into the lounge was quick and easy. Now you can use your Digital Membership Card option within the smartphone app to access the lounge, so if you forget to bring your Priority Pass card it’s no problem.
The lounge had a delicious selection of food including steamed dumplings and buns. It has a separate section for desserts and sweets as well as a bar with a large selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. I filled my plates up with some yummy sandwiches, fruits and chocolate eclairs and some sparkling wine and found a lovely quite corner of the lounge to relax and enjoy the view.
There weren’t many people at the lounge and I felt like I had the whole place to myself. I had a great WiFi connection and caught up with a bit of work before checking out the massage chairs! The chairs were brand new and it was so good to chill out and loosen up before my flight. Time flew by so quickly and I had to board my flight. I will definitely be back to visit this lounge again next time I’m in Bangkok airport.
I then flew to Hong Kong to connect to my next flight back to London. By the time I landed in Bangkok I was all hot and sweaty and wanted to have a shower. No problem. I checked into Plaza Premium Lounge at Hong Kong Airport and the assistant quickly booked me in for a shower. I always carry a change of clothes in my bag for long haul flights just in case. I like to stay comfortable and fresh during my travel and ready to sleep on my next night flight to London. The shower area feels more like a spa with great amenities. You are supplied with some fresh towels and the showers were clean and spacious. Perfect after a long day transiting. After that I came back out to relax a little more before my long flight back to London. I love this lounge as it has quite a few food stands, and everything was made to order.
So as well as shots of the Air France/KLM lounge in Bangkok below, you’ll also see the Plaza Premium Lounge in Hong Kong – both excellent lounges and perfect places to unwind.
