Today I’m sending you good vibes from The Big Island of Hawaii, where I’ve been able to enjoy the wonders of a new destination while bringing a little piece of home along for my senses.
I travel a lot, and at least a couple of times a day I miss the comforts of my home in Sydney. I miss curling up on my couch with my puppy, looking out onto my lush green surrounds and absorbing the familiar sights of my happy home.
One thing I don’t have to miss is the familiar and comforting scents of home. Why? Because having used candles from Glasshouse Fragrances for years now, and I’m able to take a piece of home with me when I travel and introduce comforting scents to the changing environments of new hotels and beachside scenes. Here I’ve done that with one of their newest releases, which is The Hamptons – a perfect way to complete a scene by the beach as the sun goes down.
I had so much fun shooting these photos with my BFF in Hawaii and the candles fit the scene beautifully as we connected and chatted about old times amongst the sights and sounds of waves lapping at the beach, and the smell of The Hamptons Teak & Petitgrain triple-scented candle from Glasshouse Fragrances.
Smells do amazing things to your mind and this is my way of creating a time machine to take me back to special little moments in the past. And now I’ll be reminded of spending time with my beautiful friend on the beach in Hawaii when I light a candle for her back home. I love that!

Hey Ash, I agree! The hardest part of traveling is feeling homesick for your fur baby and the comfort of your own home. Even when I’m gone overnight on small trpis, I still miss snuggles with my Mochi cat 🙂 I love the idea of bring a familiar scent with you to help comfort yourself in a completely new environment. Scent is such a power memory trigger 🙂
