Columbia Road Flower Market – A Blogger’s Dream

Columbia Flower Market

I love spending my weekends exploring different pockets of London. It’s only my second week here, but I feel like I’ve done so much already. We have found our house, moved in, unpacked and get settled. I joined the gym up the road. Things are going back to normal after so many months of packing and organising my big move. Now I can really just sit back and enjoy! The weather is pretty dam glorious right now. It’s basically shorts weather all day everyday!

Every city that I go to, I always stalk down the local flower market! I love flowers – they are the ultimate prop for your Instagram feed. So beautiful, so natural, so colourful. I had a chance to go and pick up some flower for my picnic at Columbia Road Flower Market in the East End of London. I was in heaven really. It was one of the best flower markets I’ve ever been to, with so much activity and character and many cool East End London accents. I have never seen so many peonies (real peonies) in one place!!! A visit here is a must do if you’re visiting London. I even got a marriage proposal by one of the street vendors (Mister Gunner caught it on Insta – click here). So single ladies!!! If you’re looking for a charmer with an endless supply of fresh flowers, here’s a place for you to drop by!

Located in on Columbia Road in E2 London, it’s just a short walk from the heart of trendy Shoreditch and it’s open every Sunday. Make sure you get down early to get the freshest stock. It starts at 8am and winds down by 2-3 pm and there are plenty of little shops and cafes along the way to take a break at. I picked more flowers than I could carry for around 25 pounds. To me that’s a bargain because, in Australia, one bunch of hydrangeas can cost me A$45 – the same price as the five bunches I bought at Columbia Road. (That’s just so exciting for me, as it’s a weekly ritual for me to fill up my house with fresh flowers.) The market also has a wide range of independent art galleries, perfumery, pottery shop, cafes. It’s literally my happy place so get down there!
