My recent trip to China began with an unforgettable experience at the Shanghai Auto Show—a true celebration of design, innovation, and the future of mobility. Walking through the showcase felt like stepping into a live demo of what’s next in the automotive world. Chery’s presence was particularly impressive, with futuristic concept cars, driver-assist technologies, and sustainable design solutions that really stood out.
But the highlight of the trip came next: a journey to Chery Australia’s Headquarters in Wuhu.
This wasn’t just a factory visit—it was a deep dive into the precision, care, and cutting-edge technology behind one of the most forward-thinking automotive brands I’ve encountered. Touring the Safety and Collision Centre, I saw how Chery vehicles are tested under extreme conditions—from full-speed head-on collisions to vehicle flips and flood simulations. Every test was proof of the brand’s dedication to safety and engineering excellence. Watching the vehicles pass with flying colours was genuinely impressive.
What also stood out was how advanced their technology truly is. From driverless car development to robotics on the production floor, the integration of automation, AI, and smart tech was remarkable. It’s clear that Chery isn’t just keeping up—they’re setting the pace.
One of my personal highlights was the test drive. I had never experienced such a dynamic and smooth drive—the handling, braking, and responsiveness were all incredibly refined. As someone who’s usually behind the wheel for content creation, it was refreshing to simply enjoy the ride and trust the car to do the work. And it delivered, effortlessly.
The visit gave me a renewed appreciation for how much detail and innovation go into building something as complex as a vehicle. From safety to design, performance to user experience—it’s all considered.
Thank you to Chery Australia for this eye-opening opportunity. From the Shanghai Auto Show to the production lines in Wuhu, I’m leaving with a new respect for the future of driving and the role Chery is playing in shaping it.
